I see an exciting opportunity space opening up in 2025. Robotics and AI are converging. Reinforcement training is making robotics more agile than ever before. Numerous companies are going to market with humanoid robots. This is raising public awareness of the robotics sector and should open up new opportunities to do exciting creative things with robots in the years to come.

our position on robots

As you know, robotics has significant roots in industrial and military technology. The current wave of enthusiasm for robots is now oriented toward domestic use cases like cleaning. But I have a much bigger vision for what is possible with robots. I think that fundamentally we should be using robots for good. These amazing machines can be put to better use than doing the dishes.

Imagine robots that clean up oil spills, install solar panels, or recover earthquake victims from rubble.

Robots that do things that humans can’t do.

This is my vision. Will clients necessarily buy into this vision? We’ll have to wait and see. Undoubtedly some client projects will have less lofty ambitions. It is my hope that client work will, if nothing else, help to create a scenario in the future where we can produce visionary work in our own R&D that will help to inspire people’s imaginations. My long term bet is that the client work will at worst subsidise these visions, and in the best case, see clients collaborating with us on a vision for a better future thanks to robotic/human interaction.
